Wrangell will be celebrating its 53rd Annual King Salmon Derby in 2005. Over the years, winning fish have weighed between 74 lbs and 44 lbs. There is over $25,000 in cash and prizes. Wrangell celebrates Spring and salmon with the month long fishing frenzy derby from mid May to mid-June. Special prizes and awards are given for the biggest fish of the week, Memorial Weekend bonus contests, first fish over 60, 50, or 40 lbs and other contests. There is a tagged fish, that if caught is worth $50,000 to the lucky fisherman!
