Sample Itineraries :: Southern Loop

DAY 1
Board the Alaska Marine Highway System for an incredible six-hour cruise up the Inside passage or take a 40 minute commuter flight to Ketchikan , the salmon capital of the world. Tour the downtown Deer Mountain Hatchery and watch salmon milling around the entrance to Ketchikan creek. Two totem pole parks, a wonderful museum, and the Totem Heritage Center are other notable Ketchikan sights. While in Ketchikan don't miss the opportunity to spend a half day or several days fishing.

DAY 2
Continue your Inside Passage journey with a stunning 5 1/2 hour ferry ride or 45 minute commuter flight to Wrangell, near the mouth of the mighty Stikine river. Visit a Tlingit clan house and the totem poles on Shakes Island. Wrangell also has petroglyphs and a garnet ledge for rock hounds! If you are staying longer visit Anan Bear Observatory or take an exciting boat trip on the Stikine River.

DAY 3
Return by ferry or air to Ketchikan. Consider taking a boat or flightseeing tour of the spectacular Misty Fjords National Monument.
