Sample Itineraries :: Northern Loop

DAY 1
Start things off in the quaint coastal community of Haines, home of the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve and Historic Fort William H. Seward. Enjoy local artwork and crafts created by local and native artisans. Don't miss an exiting performance by the world famous Chilkat Indian Dancers.

DAY 2
Take the Alaska marine highway ferry or fly south bound down the Lynn Canal to Juneau, Alaska's capital. Founded by the discovery of gold in 1880, Juneau grew quickly into one of the most productive hard rock mining centers the world has ever known. Spend the day sightseeing, sportfishing, flightseeing the Juneau icefield, or souvenir shopping.

DAY 3
Hop back on the ferry for a short trip up to the famous gold rush boomtown of Skagway. Historic wooden storefronts are perfectly preserved in Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park, testimony to the 20,000 gold-seekers who braved the Chilkoot and White Pass trails in 1898.

DAY 4
108 miles to the north, over the famous White Pass via the Klondike highway, Whitehorse is the gateway to the north. The past comes alive when you board the S.S. Klondike to see the mighty Yukon river. Visit the Macbride museum for a complete chronicle of the Yukon's gold rush history.

DAY 5
Return to Haines by car or bus, then take a drive on the scenic Haines Highway to connect to the Alaska Highway(150 miles), or take the ferry to Juneau for air travel.
